The American people have spoken. Now is the time for our legislators to roll up their sleeves and solve the problems that face our nation. Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell and his followers, especially those from the South, can no longer claim that their primary responsibility is to remove President Barack Obama from office.

A special ‘Shout Out’ goes to Karl Rove and his Big Bucks Buddies from the Beltway; the US Chamber of Commerce; the Koch Brothers and their Americans for Prosperity; and Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform; for pouring about $15,000,000 into the Montana economy. All to little avail! The voters of our fair state proved that the election could not be bought.

In 1956 President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of the possible takeover of our nation by the Military/Industrial/Congressional Complex. I believe that if the Romney & Ryan ticket wins the presidency, we will be well on our way toward just what Eisenhower warned the nation about.

The Ryan budget, which was enthusiastically endorsed by Romney, calls for a 20% increase in military spending. This in the face of the fact that we are finally extricating our forces out of the two wars started by the previous GOP Administration.

In order to do this Romney and Ryan are proposing to cut all other government spending. Such programs as disaster relief, children’s food programs, education, wellness health programs and medicare for senior citizens will be cut drastically due to the lack of funding.

Yet, our nations deficits will continue to grow. As has been said before, ” the math just doesn’t work ”.

How about the ads and new stump speeches in Ohio. They are completely false, accusing Pres. Obama of being responsible for sending Ohio auto jobs to China. Can you believe it? Even the CEO’s of GM and Chrysler have called the ad blitz, a pack of lies. The extreme right-wing running mates of the GOP will stop at nothing to get elected.

No wonder that the Salt Lake Tribune, located in Utah, the fountainhead of the Mormon religion, decided to endorse Barack Obama for President of the United States.

Mitt Romney claims that his leadership of Bain Capital from 1984 to 1999 is what qualifies him to be the president of our nation.  He also claims that while at Bain he was a job creator. This is true. The number of employees at Bain Capital grew to 150. This is hardly what you  would call a job creator. The company was and still is a venture capital firm specializing in Leveraged Buy Outs. Romney’s company is the type of firm that helped lead our country to the brink of economic disaster by the end of the last GOP administration.

He did, however, make huge profits for himself and his very wealthy clientele.

Here are a couple of the companies that ol’ Mitt ‘helped’:

  • Stage Stores, Houston, TX, a chain of department stores. After Bain unloads their shares of the parent company at a huge profit, the company declares bankruptcy in 2000.
  • Office supplier, Ampad, Richardson, TX. Again, Romney’s company reaps substantial profits from its investment. Again, this company goes bankrupt around 2000.

One of the accomplishments that Romney ballyhoos the most is the Staple’s office supply chain of ‘Big Box’ stores. True, they now have some 50,000 full-time employees. However, look at how many small, main street, office supply stores that have been forced to close.

I just don’t think that Mitt’s tenure at Bain Capital, the money shuffling enterprise, is a reason to elect him to lead our nation.

With the ‘Citizens United’ ruling by the Supreme Court, the Right of Free Speech has quickly turned into MONEY SPEECH. I’ve been inundated with TV ads, mailings, robo-calls, and live calls over the past few months. A great majority of them have come from the likes of Karl Rove, and the Koch Bros. These guys have poured millions upon million of dollars into their extreme right-wing agendas.

Just yesterday I received a very large mailer from the Koch Bros. funded, Americans for Prosperity. (The only Americans that they want to be prosperous are the Koch Bros. and their ilk.) The brochure, of course, attacked our Senator John Tester with the usual lies, misrepresentations and innuendo. I think that with all of their money, they could come up with something substantive, but the can’t.

Later in the day I answered a live call from Crossroads GPS, one of the shadowy organizations funded by Karl Rove and his Big Bucks Buddies from the Beltway. The young man had an unusual accent. So much so, that it made me wonder if he might be an illegal immigrant working for Karl’s super-PAC for less than minimum wage. Now, that would be ironic, wouldn’t it?

By the time that the debate between President Obama and Gov. Romney reached the 1/3 point, Mitt was parroting the policies of the Obama Administration. The foreign policy team of the Obama Administration, which includes Secy. of State Hillary Clinton, UN Ambassador Susan Rice and the Joint Chiefs of Staff of our Military have been working quietly and diligently to restore our tarnished image throughout the world.

The previous GOP Administration, with their ‘My way or the Highway’ attitude, and the starting of two unfunded wars, was full of bluster and bombast. The United States was held in great contempt by many nations of the world during this period. Romney has many of the same foreign policy advisors.

So, why elect a parrot when we can re-elect a real leader like President Obama? Then our next President can be Hillary Clinton. Sound like a plan?

Score:   Obama 75      Romney 25

Just like the San Francisco Giants, President Obama had to come from behind to win the series. He did it in striking fashion. No matter what pitches Gov. Romney tried to throw at him, Pres. Obama made a hit. It ended up that Mitt agreed with much of this administrations policies on foreign affairs.

When Romney was at bat, for the most part, he whiffed. He did tell the American people who on day one, when he is elected, that he would pronounce China a currency manipulator. That is not a very intelligent statement. He needs to remember that China has helped us finance the two wars that the previous administration has gotten us into.

Statements like that harken back to the bombast and bluster of the Bush years. I remember the day that Pres. Bush flew in and landed on an aircraft carrier. When he got out of the back seat of the cockpit, I half expected him  to be wearing a leather helmet and goggles with a white silk scarf flowing around his neck. He then proceeded to declare ‘Mission Accomplished’ with regard to the Iraq War. (It took the diligent work of the Obama Administration, our military leaders and our dedicated troops to get us out of that quagmire.) Remember, Romney’s advisors and handlers are the same folks that advised Pres. Bush.

Speaking of aircraft carriers, here is something that puzzles me. During the first debate, when Mitt told Pres. Obama that he was acting like one of his demanding children, he was lauded by the pundits, both on the right and left, for being forceful and direct. However, when Obama took Romney to task regarding the strength of our military, those same pundits accused the President of being condescending and arrogant. I don’t understand that. Frankly, I thought the aircraft carrier, submarine remarks, along with the ‘fewer horses and bayonets’ comment added a bit of levity to the proceedings.

Well, now we are on to the World Series of the election process. May the best team win.

During the Presidential Debate last Tuesday Night, Gov. Romney was asked to compare what his policies would be with that of the previous GOP Administration of George W. Bush.

The question took him a bit off-guard, but he finally said that he would keep taxes low, (but be able to balance the budget), get rid of more government regulations, etc., etc.

What he did not tell us is that he has retained many of the Bush Administration’s foreign policy advisors. Those are the same advisors who got us into 2 unfunded wars, and were responsible for telling the American people and the Security Council of the United Nations outright lies regarding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

One of Mitt’s senior advisors is John Bolton. We all remember him as the UN Ambassador.  He is a sabre rattling bird of prey that is so full of bluster. To me, he is the personification of the Ugly American.

Score: Obama 65   Romney 35

I believe that President Obama clearly came out ahead in the 2nd Presidential debate. He was in his element as he related to the audience in the hall. Gov. Romney had trouble as he tried to dominate the stage like he did in the first debate.

A particular exchange struck me. Obama questioned the figures regarding the Romney/Ryan plan for the budget. Candy Crowley asked Romney about that. Gov. Romney condescendingly shot back, “Of course my figures are correct.” He did not explain though. Instead, he bragged about being a ‘budget balancer’. He referred to his successes at Bain Capital, the State of Massachusetts, and the Salt Lake City, Winter Olympics.

What he neglected to tell the American people was that the Olympics had to have government bailouts to the tune of $ 1,500,000,000, in order to balance.

Under the proposed Romney/Ryan budgets there would be no funds available for such financial help, unplanned disasters, Planned Parenthood, or many more important programs.

If you need confirmation on the outcome of Debate II, just take a look at Ann Romney’s face, as she came on stage, after the proceedings concluded.

A good friend of mine asked me the other day, ‘Where’s the Tea Party?’ It’s an excellent question.

Where is the Tea Party, that was initially financed by the Koch Bros., the sole owners  of one of the largest conglomerates in the world?

Where is the Tea Party, whose membership includes some folks who are infused with a racial bias?

Where is the Tea Party, that is embraced by members of Congress such as Paul Ryan and Michelle Bachmann, whose extreme right-wing positions attempted to bring our government to its knees?

Where is the Tea Party, who has been venerated by the news media, especially by the likes of Rupert Murdock, the Australian/US citizen who owns Fox News (an oxymoron), the National Geographic Channel, and the Wall Street Journal?

Where is the Tea Party, whose members, when elected to Congress, were responsible for making that body politic the most ineffective in our Nation’s history?

Where is the Tea Party, that was idolized by every GOP candidate during the primaries, including Mitt Romney the eventual nominee?

Where is the Tea Party? Make no mistake, it is right here, running beneath the radar. And, if the likes of the Koch Brothers have their way, our fine nation will be well on its way to becoming an Oligarchy.
